Above all mediums, I love books and print. I relish reading and often get lost in books for hours upon end, something I inherited from my Mama. There is something so tangible and special about printed pages in a book or magazine. Its cathartic and cleansing to take sometime for yourself to sit and read, away from technology and all its distractions. However, its not always realistic in our busy, modern lives to be able to carve out time for such. Sadly these days reading is seemingly reserved for holidays in the sun. Few and far between. Enter podcasts; audio stories and interviews from all arenas, free for download for anyone who wishes to listen.
Podcasts have webbed their way into our everyday lives, ever present and perpetually diversifying. Whenever I am commuting to work, exercising, soaking up the sun or heading off to bed I like to have a podcast playing. I’m not sure if its just my personality type, (or the fact I'm a woman) but I like to multitask and have a few things running all at once. Through podcasting I can listen and learn whilst fulfilling another duty simultaneously… two birds one stone? I listen to everything from This American Life to The Minimalist podcast and all thats in-between.
A personal favourite isThe Rich Roll Podcast. I discovered Rich and his wife Julie some years ago when I came to Plant Based living and running. I had the luck of meeting beautiful Julie in Bondi early this year, just as authentic and kind in person as on the podcast. Rich himself has an extremely interesting back story, once an alcoholic and struggling lawyer with piling debt and no outlet he now stands today as a bestselling author, vegan advocate, Ultra-Endurance Athlete & Wellness Evangelist. His podcasts revolves around lengthy interviews with the ‘world's brightest and most thought provoking thought leaders to educate, inspire and empower you to unleash your best, most authentic self.’ The interviews and topics are current, important, thought provoking and inspiring.
Alongside RRP there are numerous other podcasts I love listening to, all of which have amazing takeaways and enticing subjects. I managed to narrow it down to my current top 10 podcasts, all of which and be found on iTunes Apple store for free download. Be sure to give some a listen and let me know your thoughts, if you have any others to share, I would love to hear!
